I offer awesome stage combat and stunt fighting workshops! I can run them for all sorts of groups – theatre companies, martial arts clubs, or even businesses looking for a fun team-building activity.
I am based in Wellington but travel all over to run these, including Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin.

Basic rolls & breakfalls
Basic rolls (forward, back & side) & breakfalls (front, back, side) are an essential skill for all stunt people – these apply to many situations including fight scenes, etc.
Intermediate rolls & breakfalls
Intermediate rolls & breakfalls including shoulder rolls, dive rolls & some wrestling moves (horse mare & clothesline).
Advanced rolls & breakfalls
Advanced rolls & breakfalls including stair fall techniques, car hit techniques & some wrestling moves (body slam & Irish whip).
Basic unarmed stunt fighting/stage combat
Basic unarmed fighting covers different types of kicks and punches, basic fight choreography, numbering systems, acting the fight, vocalization, etc.
Intermediate unarmed fighting (nasty & funny)
Intermediate unarmed nasty and funny fights – hair/ear/nose pulling, eye poking, biting, slapping, chops to the throat and back of the neck, head butts, groin kicks, rabbit punch kidney hits, slamming head into wall, strangling/choking, nerve pinching, etc.
Advanced unarmed fighting
Advanced unarmed fighting covers different martial arts styles, complex choreography, 1 vs 2, 1 vs 3, 2 vs 2, fast & furious fighting.
Basic medieval sword fighting
Basic medieval sword fighting – covers attacks, blocks, ducks and evasions, basic fight choreography, numbering systems, acting the fight, vocalization & 1 vs 1 fights.
Intermediate medieval sword & shield fighting
Intermediate medieval sword & shield – I supply wooden training swords and shields plus a few soft foam ones. Choreography, more attacks, blocks, etc. including 1 vs 2 fights.
Advanced medieval sword fighting
Advanced medieval sword fighting – spins/flourishes, throws/passes, disarms, trips/takedowns, half swording, nasty tactics such as pommel & guard attacks, complex 1 vs 2 & 1 vs 3 fights.
Gun disarms
Gun disarms – various styles of holding, tactics & disarms/takedowns using non-functioning soft and hard rubber prop guns.
Knife fights
Knife fights – various styles of holding/fighting, tactics & disarms/takedowns using prop knives and daggers (made of rubber, plastic, etc.).
Basic staff & spear fighting
Basic staff & spear fighting – techniques including spinning and 1 vs 1 fights. I supply all the weapons.
Intermediate staff plus spear/spear & shield
Intermediate staff & spear/spear & shield fighting – techniques/tactics including 1 vs 2 & 1 vs 3 fights.
Soft prop weapons fights
Soft prop weapon fights – use of prop chains, hammers, sledgehammers, metal bars, crowbars, axes, baseball bats, etc. I supply all the prop weapons (made of rubber, foam, plastic & wood).
Stage acting specific basic skills
Stage acting specific skills – basic punching and kicking, different slapping techniques (including making multiple types of knaps), stage fainting technique, and carrying/dragging unconscious/dead people off stage.
Basic rapier fighting
Basic rapier fighting – rapier stage combat techniques.
Intermediate rapier fighting
Intermediate rapier fighting – rapier & dagger, rapier & lantern, rapier & cloak techniques.
Mixed bag of mayhem-various weapons and skills
Mixed Bag Of Mayhem – cane/walking stick/umbrella combat (bartitsu style), nunchakus plus found & improvised weapons (books, magazines, phones, ties, etc.),
Bar/pub brawling with breakaway bottles, props & furniture
Bar brawls & pub punchups – mass fights e.g. bar room brawling with breakaway props and furniture. Everybody also gets to be smashed over the head with a breakaway bottle! NOTE: extra cost due to the breakaway props & you must bring your own elbow & knee pads).
Battle scenes
Battle scenes – moving in formation & the tactics/practicalities of two mass groups battling with weapons.
Slapstick
Slapstick – Slips, trips, chair falls, running into doors & walls, etc.
